Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen

Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen

Soft Linen is the perfect yarn for warmer days and soft, cool nights. The alpaca makes a beautiful halo, the linen gives it a crisp and firm hand and the wool provides stability and its own level of softness.

This year-round yarn works equally well for lace, colorwork and textures. This makes it a particularly good choice for accessories that will get a lot of use, like hats, belts, shawls, scarves and mitts.

35% Linen, 35% Wool, 30% Baby Alpaca

Long Dog Yarn Tweed DK

Long Dog Yarn Tweed DK

Long Dog Yarn began on a tiny apartment stove with the eagerness to create unique, colorful yarns that inspire the creative streak inside us all. Each skein of Long Dog Yarn is hand-dyed by Brandy, under the watchful eye of her “long dog,” Rufus, in her home studio in Santa Fe, NM.

Brandy originally began experimenting with dyeing yarn as a new way to express her growing adoration for the fiber arts and yarn. At the time, she was finishing her PhD dissertation in animal physiology at the University of Toronto and turned to dyeing on the stove in her teeny apartment kitchen as a way to channel the anxiety of the graduate school experience and express herself through color.

During this time, she began selling off a few skeins of her hand-dyed yarns to keep feeding the “hobby” of dyeing and recoup some oft her material expenses, slowly growing a small following online for her unique dyeing style and color combinations. After finishing her PhD, her passion for dyeing quickly took over her days and she had the free time to continue exploring new techniques and develop her color sense. After just a few months, she took the leap of officially opening up an online shop and Long Dog Yarn was born in the late summer of 2016. Since that time, the company has continued to grow and dyeing has become her full-time job. It’s still a one-woman (and one dog) show behind the scenes in her home studio in Santa Fe, NM.
